When Claire and Emily were small, we had a series of au pairs from Europe - most of which we remember very fondly and have kept in touch with (we have chosen to forget the first and last one - so don't ask!). Several of them were from the Nordics - and are now spread nicely from Copenhagen all the way to above the arctic circle in Norway. So, after talking about going for a visit for a long time, we are at last doing it!
First stop Copenhagen, to visit Karolina and Peter (and little Axel). We only spend 2 days there, and then fly to Aselund in Norway, where we'll rent a car and drive all the way to Bodo. Looking at the itinerary, it looks like we'll be on ferry's more than we'll be driving - there are a lot of islands and fjords along the Norwegian coast! We'll stop to visit Iren, and end up with Maria. Other than that, I really don't know what to expect - other than a lot of daylight...... we will in fact experience the midnight sun once we get to Bodo - which should be interesting.
For now, we are at JFK, sitting in the Korean Airlines lounge -We are flying Norwegian airlines, and they don't have their own. (Airline lounges are the greatest invention since the invention of the airplane!)
I will post from Copenhagen once we get there and start doing stuff worth sharing (and talking pictures- Joe has a fine selection of super-duper lenses with him).
